Follow the adventures of one of Australia's national heroes in this film based on Robert Drewe's book Our Sunshine. Ned Kelly (Heath Ledger) is arrested for stealing a horse he didn't know was stolen, and he is sent to jail for three years. Upon his release, he sees his sister Kate (Kerry Condon) being harassed by Officer Fitzpatrick (Kiri Paramore) of the Victoria state police. In the ensuing fight, Ned is forced to flee along with his brother Dan (Laurence Kinlan) and two of their friends. When Office Fitzpatrick claims to have been shot, Ned and his "gang" immediately become some of Australia's most wanted outlaws! Will they be able to survive in the outback and clear Ned's name?
