4 couples, who are also friends from college, spend a retreat at a mountain lodge which makes each of them wonder why they ever got married. Diane (Sharon Leal) and Terry (Tyler Perry) fight constantly about Diane’s attachment to her job and her Blackberry, two things she could not leave at home. Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White) seem to bicker about everything. The marriage Patricia (Janet Jackson) and Gavin (Malik Yoba) struggles because of a car accident that killed their son, for which Gavin blames Patricia. Sheila (Jill Scott) and husband Mike (Richard T. Jones) don’t even arrive together! Instead, Mike shows up with Sheila’s friend Trina (Denise Boutte) while Sheila drives in on her own. The week-long retreat only causes more fights for each couple, when they all have to struggle with issues of fidelity, commitment, and forgiveness.
